Well, folks – the warmer weather sure seems to have settled in now that we’re halfway through the year! And we’ve got our fingers crossed it sticks around for a while. While Pride Month may be over by the time July rolls around, it’s hardly the end of the associated celebrations and festivities. That’s because this year’s Pride in London event will take place on the first Saturday of July. As always, there will be a grand parade through the city as we celebrate our LGBTQIA+ brothers and sisters. And, of course, there will be a big ol’ after party, where revellers can “dance the night away at the city’s most anticipated Pride after party.”

Take a trip back to a time when dinosaurs walked the Earth at Jurassic World: The Experience – “the closest you’ll ever come to living dinosaurs”. It all starts as you step through the iconic Jurassic World gates before exploring 10 immersive zones inspired by the Jurassic World franchise. Along the way, you’ll walk beneath a towering Brachiosaurus and come face to face with Blue the Velociraptor; you’ll even encounter the vicious Tyrannosaurus Rex. As if that wasn’t enough, you can get hands-on with actual fossilised dinosaur bone and visit the Creation Lab to see baby dinosaurs up close.

Take a closer look at history’s most infamous sea voyage at The Legend of The Titanic – The Immersive Exhibition. As you explore the interactive experience, you’ll get to delve into the bowels of the ship’s engine room and sip tea in Café Parisien. Along the way, you’ll learn about the passengers themselves, with the exhibition shining a light on otherwise overlooked people aboard the ship.

This July, the Camden People’s Theatre is hosting the Every Body Festival: two weeks of “live theatre, digital premieres, cabaret, workshops and panel events, all led by disabled and deaf artists”. Performances are not just made by disabled artists, but are created with accessibility baked in – exposing theatre-goers to art that is both by and for a diverse array of people. The festival aims to make art accessible not just for the audience or the performer, but for everyone involved.

Did you know you can swim in the Thames? Well, at least parts of it… Canary Wharf has once again opened its outdoor swimming space for Londoners to enjoy. DOn’t worry, though, there’s no need to fear dirty water! The water is tested often to ensure it maintains extremely high cleanliness levels. Just take a dip and cool off, without having to head for the beach or fight for space in your local lido.

Bedrock Wine Fair is the sort of ‘iykyk’ event where you’ll find London’s most ardent vino-lovers at, as well as the team behind the city’s best wine bars and the world’s best wine producers. Taking place for just one day, the tasting festival allows attendees to talk to the wine-makers themselves as they taste widely across some truly delicious grape juice. Cap it off with a stunning location by the Thames and some delicious food, and you’ve got everything you need for a vine-derful day out.

Fancy travelling back in time as you journey around London? Well, here’s your chance. The London Transport Museum is bringing back its ever-popular heritage train journeys, which will allow lucky Londoners to travel in (vintage) style along the Piccadilly Line. You’ll have to grab a ticket to ride, though, since there were no Oyster cards or contactless payments back when these trains were running!

Tucked away in the suburbs of South London is a hidden gem of a museum that is waiting to be found. The Horniman Museum and Gardens dates back to Victorian times and boasts a wealth of weird, wacky and downright wonderful objects from across the globe. Inside (and outside) you’ll find an aquarium, a butterfly house, a 16-acre garden, a robot zoo (yes, really), a library, a nature trail, and various galleries displaying objects and artefacts. How’s that for a must-visit hidden spot!?

Over in Camden, tucked away just off the main street, you’ll find Babylon Park – a thrilling space-themed underground theme park. That’s right – they’ve somehow managed to hide an entire theme park right beneath the feet of Camden’s visitors. As well as the rollercoaster itself, Babylon Park is home to all manner of arcade games and fairground attractions. It’s the perfect spot to keep the kids (and your own inner child) entertained.

This July, for one day, school children will take over some of the stands at Borough Market to sell fruit, herbs, and vegetables that have been grown in their school gardens. Running from 11am – 1:30pm, the event will see the students themselves calling out their wares as they share the results of their school programs with Londoners. The cute event is part of the School Food Matters initiative to emphasise the importance of good food and nutrition in schools.

For one day only (July 12), the esteemed Toklas Bakery will operate a pop-up sandwich market selling unique sandwich creations from some of London’s leading chefs. Heavyweights from the London restaurant scene, such as Mentaca, Lupa, Elliot’s, and more, will put their stamps on focaccia, brioche, and sourdough delights. It’s the only place you’ll be able to try some of the bread-ensconced delights!

Every year, the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival brings us a gorgeous celebration of gardens and floral displays. It’s perfect for the green-fingered and flower-eyed among you. The enormous beery event sees the best breweries from around the UK and the world coming together to pour ultra-fresh and delicious beers to craft beer enthusiasts and newbies alike. This July, a trail of turtle sculptures will drop down in the city. Raising awareness for marine life, the trail features specially designed turtles from artists and celebrities such as Rolling Stones guitarist and Tusk ambassador Ronnie Wood, among others. The show performs in a different venue each night, but the tour will finish on July 12 – so don’t miss out! Stand Up For The Shelter treats audience members to two hours of brillian stand-up, with funds being raised to support the Hackney Night Shelter – so they “can keep providing 26 emergency bed spaces 365 nights a year for people who would otherwise be sleeping on the street.”

A free literary festival – Penguin Books’s ‘Nothing Like a Book’ weekender – will land in London this July to celebrate Penguin’s 90th birthday. The walk-in event is split across the Discovery Room and the Curiosity Studio. In the Discovery Room you’ll discover “experiential installations themed around what books do best: soothe, empower, and thrill”. And over in the Curiosity Studio, guests will be treated to an impressive roster of speakers ranging from Jacqueline Wilson to Munroe Bergdorf, Nadia El Fassi, and more. The weekend event will also feature surprise free giveaways, post-fest parties, a Penguin “pub quiz”, and more.
